Getting Ready

Introduction:   Allow me to share. I'd been researching early nineteenth century SHELTONs in Missouri. My great-great-grandfather, Stephen SHELTON (b. 1809), was married to Nancy BROWN. Nancy was part Native American, daughter of Chief (?) John BROWN. I sought information from a Chief John BROWN website and was told that yes, I'd found the right family. What followed was email exchanges & finally some in-person gatherings. In 2000 our daughter, Jamie, was invited to Nickajack to sing at the wedding of Strong Eagle & Nionee White Dove. I have not yet proven exactly how and where our SHELTON family ties in, but we had a most excellent trip back to Tennessee. I love my Indian "family". Below are pictures of of Strong Eagle & Nionee's wedding & other pictures!

For the love of friends! This is Sunde, Jamie & Yours Truly enjoying a campout at Nickajack, Tennessee in 2000.

That's me, Jamie & Jim congratulating Strong Eagle & Nionee White Dove at their wedding reception. They had an authentic Cherokee ceremony held outdoors at Nickajack, Tennessee, in 2000! Beautiful!
