I am the daughter of Leonard Aaron Shelton (b. 1914) & Living. My father is the son of Stephen Morton Shelton (b. 1877) & Fannie Adelia Wardle (b. 1882, also known as Francis). Stephen (b. 1877) is the son of John Shelton (b. 1839) & Mary Morton (b. 1849). John (b. 1839) is the son of Stephen Shelton (b. 1809) & Abigail Harris (b. 1818). Stephen (b. 1809) is the son of Stephen Shelton (b. abt 1780) & Elizabeth.
The earliest primary source I have on my SHELTON line is the 1830 U.S. census for Harmony Township, Washington County, Missouri. Most of what I have is (1) oral tradition, (2) undocumented genealogy records also passed down & (3) a handful of biographies written in the early 1900s. Our earliest tradition is that we descend from one of the brothers of Sarah SHELTON, wife of the patriot Patrick HENRY.

Margaret Shelton Hair & Margaret Shelton Kinsey were record keepers for our family. Margaret Shelton Hair explains her writings as "history of my father's family as far as I can get it from writing letters, from Grandfather's first family & from Grandmother Abigail Harris Shelton's son (Charley Edward Faucett b. 1856) by John McKee Faucett whom she married after the death of Grandfather Stephen."
